Psalm 40:6-8 - The Scriptures Are About the Messiah
In this message from the "Summer in the Psalms" series, Pastor Gary Pierce explores Psalm 40:6–8, drawing connections to Luke 24:44 and John 5:39–40 to highlight the Bible's central theme: Jesus as the Messiah. Pastor Gary explains that God never truly desired the Old Testament sacrificial system for its own sake; rather, it was a temporary measure pointing to the ultimate sacrifice—Jesus Christ. The sermon underscores that God's requirement of perfection reveals our need for a Savior. Only Jesus, fully human and fully divine, can meet this standard. Pastor Gary cautions against using Scripture merely to enforce morality and instead encourages believers to read the Bible to truly know and believe in Christ. Listeners are invited to shift their focus from self-effort to Christ-centered faith, embracing both trust and obedience in response to the Gospel. The message challenges the congregation to let their understanding of Scripture lead to worship and transformation through Jesus.
